The petrol and diesel prices have climbed highest ever today. The reason cited is that the crude prices have risen and the rupee value has come down. The Modi government is unable to check the prices, especially on the fuel front. There was a lot of discussion on the fuel prices being brought under the GST.

Both Prime Minister Modi and the Council of Ministers had discussions on the rising fuel prices, but nothing concrete has been done to contain the rising rates. The rise in fuel prices has a cascading effect on all the prices of the essential commodities and it is burning a hole in the pocket of the common man.

Modi government

Modi lost a few elections with wafer think majority due to the rise in fuel prices. The fuel prices were actually reduced during the election time and voting time. But it did not have any effect on the common man. Apart from fuel prices the demonetisation also had its effect on the poll prospects of the BJP Government. It has some reversed in UP and also Gujarat.

It would be better if the NDA Government can think of controlling the fuel prices. With the idea of one Nation one poll not being implemented this year, Modi has some time to breathe. But there are elections for the Assembly in states by the end of this year. If he wins them, there is no doubt for the future.
