After March 31, Jio will be a paid service, says Mukesh Ambani. But Jio will offer the most affordable rates, he says. Ambani says that hundreds of new plans have been launched by other telecoms and that has created a lot of confusion. But with Jio, he says, there is no confusion. After March 31, Jio will match each and every plan that other operators are offering or will offer at the same rate but with 20 per cent more data.
Yes, we are still waiting for the live stream to start. Jio has big plans for future. First of all it has to start the paid service, which is something that Ambani may talk about today. Then there is the big Jio plan for the Jio Fibre, which is going to be a wired internet service. Jio is already testing the Fibre in some areas of Mumbai and that too comes with the free service for the first three months.
Then there are plans around the content services and apps. Just yesterday Jio tied up with Uber for JioMoney a wallet app. Just like WhatsApp that can be used from inside Uber app to pay for rides, Uber users will now be able to do the same with the JioMoney app.
The last two times when Mukesh Ambani made Jio announcements, he offered free Jio services. The first time it was in the first week of September when he announced the availability of Jio services with the Welcome Offer. The second time it was in the first week of December when he announced the Happy New Year offer, extending the Jio free services until March 31. Will today be the same? Will there another extension of free Jio services… we will know in a while.
