The Parliamentary Standing Committee on housing and urban affairs visited Kollur today and inspected the 2BHK dignity housing project. The committee under the Chairmanship of Sri Rajiv Ranjan Singh is on a study tour to Hyderabad comprising of members from Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
Commissioner Municipal Administration N Sathyanarayana briefed the committee about the dignity housing scheme which is the flagship programme of the government of Telangana. He said that 15660 2BHK houses have been constructed in Kolllur to shelter less poor people living below the poverty line by dovetailing with PMAY (urban) scheme of the Government of India.
The unit cost of one house is Rs 6.05 which includes infrastructure cost of Rs 75 thousands. The Government of India share is Rs 1.50 lakhs while the state share is Rs 4.55 lakhs.
Officials informed the committee members that as per the vision of the Honourable Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekar Rao the two bed room houses are being provided at free of cost to the beneficiaries.
The committee members enquired about the implementation of the programme in the state and complimented the state government for taking up such a massive housing programme. The committee members went round the housing complexes and inspected the flats. The members appreciated the innovative measures adopted for revenue generation to meet the operation and maintenance expenses.
Sangareddy Collector Sarath, Ranga Reddy Collector Amoy Kumar and other senior officials from GHMC, revenue and police department were present.
