Today a coordination meeting was held at the Hyderabad Traffic Police Complex, Nampally, Hyderabad under the chairmanship of the Addl Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Sri Anil Kumar , IPS , involving Hyderabad Traffic Police, Cyberabad Traffic Police Rachakonda Traffic Police, SCSC and Jeevandan officials participated and deliberated on the issues around effective implementation of “Jeevandan” scheme in the city by adopting a multi-pronged approach.
Sri. V.C. Sajjanar, IPS., Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad while addressing the meeting emphasised the importance of donation of organs of brain dead persons that will save many lives and there is a need to bring more awareness among the police personnel and citizens on organ donation and this would bring a movement in the society which will lead to Saving Lives.
Sri. Anil Kumar, IPS., Addl. Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad emphasized that Telangana State Police are the torch bearers who are leading this Jeevandan initiative by providing Green Channel to the Ambulances carrying Live Organs from one Hospital to another Hospital within short period of time. He also said that there is a need to conduct periodical awareness programmes to remove all the apprehensions among the citizens about organ donation. There is also a need to create a special day for organ donation and should be organized on the particular day as a big event to promote and get this event into the public to create awareness on organ donation which would save lives. He appreciated th Jeevandaan Officials for their Great & Remarkable Service in Saving Lives in th entire State. He assured them all help & support to them from Police side.
Dr. G. Swarnalatha, head of Jeevandan organization explained the measures that are being taken to take the programme to all the districts in the state in collaboration with the police department and SCSC. She stated that Telangana Jeevandaan Programme is a Model to entire country. It has a very robust system in place & appreciated by all. She said there is a need to involve all stakeholders to take this program to th grassroot level.
Sri Krishna Yedula, General Secretary , SCSC , expressed that it is a great opportunity for the council to become part of this noble initiative and make it a sustainable project to benefit the public. Also, it was decided that SCSC will coordinate with the Police and Jeevandan in establishing common platform to streamline information flow among various stakeholders in organ donation process.
Dr. Rajiv Menon, Joint Secretary, SCSC Health Forum, expressed that this scheme must reach out all sections of society and the SCSC will coordinate with all hospitals and other stakeholders in ensuring this.
