As per the instructions of Ministry of Home Affairs for month-long Operation Smile 2021, Cyberabad Police has formed teams for Operation Smile-VII in the nine divisions of Cyberabad.

A dedicated campaign “Operation Smile-VII” was launched throughout Cyberabad Commissionerate, to rescue Children from Child Labour, begging, rag picking etc., runaway and vulnerable children and to trace missing Children.

On 11-01-2021 as part of their duties Operation Smile-Vll Team and Child Line Team officials raided Samad Bangles company at Roshan Colony, Vattepally, under Mailardevpally Police Station limits and found (17) minor children engaged in Bangle making.

They were kept in locked room and made to work on Bangles. They were not provided sufficient food and clothes due to which their health was getting affected.

On enquiry it was revealed that the wages paid to them were also very less and not regular, also their working hours were long without any breaks. All the minors were brought from Bihar State. A case was registered in Cr. No. 29/2021 U/s 374 IPC, 79 JJ Act & 14 Child Labour Act at Mailardevpally PS. The Children were sent to Shelter Home after producing them before the Child Welfare Committee, Ranga Reddy.

Cyberabad Police has launched a special What’sapp No.7901115474 for reporting on child labour. Citizens are requested to report on persons using children below 14 years as child labour in hotels, restaurants, dabhas, tea stalls, domestic work etc. on this number or Dial 100 or send e-mail to “smileteamcyb@gmail.com”. Stringent action will be taken against the offenders.

Using children below 14 years as labour is prohibited by law and carries punishment of imprisonment of upto three years. Information about any child found begging can be sent along with the address where the child is found and the Smile Team will rescue the child and help in his/her rehabilitation.
