Operation Muskaan is conducted every year in the month of July to trace and rescue missing and trafficked children.
To trace out missing children, children involved in child labour, bonded labour, micro industries, begging and trafficking children, rescuing them and relocating them to their parents and family members, the Telangana State Police in coordination with all other concerned Departments is conducting Operation Muskaan for a period of one month during the month of July and also conducting Operation Smile during the month of January for a period of one month.
During this year the “Operation Muskaan – IX” programme was conducted in the entire State of Telangana for a period of one month from 1st July to 31st July 2023 under close supervise of the Women Safety Wing, which is the nodal agency for the teams. Police Teams (Consisting of 1 SI + 4 PCs including one woman police officer) were formed in each Sub-Division in the State comprising of 753 police personnel, then teams in coordination with the Women Development and Child Welfare Department, Labour, Health, Child Welfare Committees (CWC), District Child Protection Units, NGOs of concerned districts have actively participated in this operation.
A convergence meeting was conducted on 26.06.2023 by the Women Safety Wing, Telangana as Nodal Agency to bring co-ordination among all stakeholders, training was imparted to the teams by the Women Safety Wing on the Standard Operating Procedures to be followed, laws to be invoked, ( J.J Act 2015, Child/ bonded Labour Act etc.,) i.e., and on use of technical apps of Telangana Police, Facial Recognition features on TS cop app, DARPAN and TrackChild portal.
Since the launch of the programme, the teams have rescued vulnerable children from railway stations, bus stations, religious places, traffic junctions, mechanic shops, brick industries, building constructions areas, shops, tea stalls, footpaths etc.,
