The supreme court has directed that the people must celebrate Diwali with fewer emission crackers only. The court has given two hours permission for bursting the crackers on Diwali that is November 7.
The court said that it was to reduce the air and also noise pollution across the country and also to protect the interest of the cracker sellers.
Last year there was a ban imposed on the cracker sellers, but the sales in some cities and areas could not be stopped. The court also banned the manufacture of crackers in some areas.
India has 14 cities which are highly polluted and Delhi is one of them. This is for the right to health of 1.3 billion people of the country the court opined. The air pollution is causing over 10 lakh premature deaths every year.
Taking this into serious account the court has thought it fit to reduce the pollution from the last Diwali. Delhi would be one of the worst affected areas for Diwali.
