To boost digital transactions and cashless economy, the Centre is all set to do away with cheque books, says a highly placed source.
The move comes after demonetisation completed one year on November 8.
The Modi-led BJP government scrapped the usage of old demonetised notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 in order to curb black money and corruption.
But the people suffered a lot on this account.
If implemented, the decision could affect the transaction preferences of millions of people in the country.
They will be forced to run around ATMs where there would be no cash. Then forced to have internet for net banking.
