Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman on Monday tabled the Economic Survey 2021-22 in Lok Sabha. The government sees the Indian economy growing at 8.5 percent in the financial year 2022-23 (FY23).
The GDP growth rate for the ongoing financial year 2021-22 (FY22) is estimated at 9.2 per cent.
The Economic Survey noted that economic activity has recovered to the pre-pandemic level. It further added that the economy is well placed to take on challenges in 2022-23.
Robust export growth and availability of fiscal space to ramp up capital spending to support growth next fiscal.
Agriculture and allied sectors are expected to grow by 3.9 per cent in 2021-22. The Services sector is estimated to grow by 8.2 per cent in the ongoing financial year.
The gross domestic product (GDP) contracted by 7.3 per cent in 2020-21. The survey focuses on supply-side issues to improve the resilience of the Indian economy.
