Now the state Government is working on issuing the new ration cards for the public of Telangana. They have decided to fix the cards only for the ration and not for Arogyasri.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will be the chairman of the Cabinet sub-committee to examine and recommend the eligibility criteria and modalities for the issue of new ration cards and health cards.
Ministers Damodar Rajanarsimha and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy will be members of the committee.The principal secretary to the government, consumer affairs, food and civil supplies department, will be the convener.
Ration cards were not issued for 10 years by the previous BRS government. Even deletions and additions of names in the ration cards were not allowed. This had left many newly married couples and their kids in the lurch.
This will take some time for the Government for the issue of the new ration cards. The public are waiting for the same. Now that the cards would be restricted only to the level of grains and not other things,the demand might come down.
There will be separate cards for the Arogyasri.
