New Kwid from Renault

Renault has been extremely busy post the launch of the Kwid and we know it is a capable car because well.
Renault India had made it clear that the car will come with an Automated Manual Transmission and we applauded that decision but then we also noticed a small piece of plastic covering in the shape of a dial right next to the switches for the power windows, and realised the innovation that Renault was bringing to the table.
The gear selector of the AMT variant is unique, as it is a dial and has only reverse, Neutral and Drive mode. It will also boast of a crawl function that helps it move forward/reverse slowly without any throttle input. Sadly though, this innovation will have its downsides and that is you will not be able to change gears manually and rely completely on the calibration of the engine and the gearbox to get the power required.

Now, rotary gear selectors are not alien to us but we have never seen one on a small car and that is why the one on the Kwid is extremely intriguing. The Kwid with a more powerful version will launch on August 22 and the AMT version of the car will hit showrooms in the next couple of months.
