Actor Shama Sikander believes in speaking her mind, but feels bad when misquoted. It was reported that the actor had actually watched porn films to prepare for her character in the short film, Sexaholic. Refuting these reports, the actor says such confusion leads to other problems and people also get judgemental without any reason.
“I was misquoted. I never said that I watched porn films to research for my character. Basically, I had asked for both written and visual content that I can refer to and get a better understanding of the character I was to play. But there was nothing pornographic involved.
It was about people who are sex addicts. The research material was actually very interesting,” says Shama, who has also done an erotic web series, directed by Vikram Bhatt.
On whether if the india audiences are open to such content, the actor says, “The kind of views we have got for Sexoholic or for my latest web series, I have no doubt that viewers are receptive. Not to forget the business porn industry makes, not just here (in India), but all over the world.
And also, in the age of digital boom, can you stop anyone from watching or reading anything and everything they feel like?
