The country is celebrating its 68th Republic Day on 26th of January to honour the Constitution of India as it came into force on the same day in the year 1950. The chief guest this year is Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Search giant Google in its special doodle to mark the 68th Republic Day, today showed a stadium full of people amid a sea of tricolour decking up the arena.

The doodle displays one-half of the stadium, with crowd on two corners, while a saffron-coloured band runs along the inner periphery of the semicircular track.

The outer periphery of the track is shown decorated with tricolours and a semi-circular patch of green marks the space in the centre.

Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, was on Wednesday lit up in tri-colours – saffron, white and green – to celebrate India’s 68th Republic Day, showcasing strong cultural and trade bond between India and the UAE.

“#BurjKhalifa wishes The #RepublicOfIndia a Happy National Day,” the official account of Burj Khalifa tweeted.
Security has been tightened in the city with police patrols and more plain-clothed policemen on streets and at public places in view of the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.

Police personnel were deployed at the railway station and bus stations of the State Road Transport Corporation, bus stands. Checks were carried out at hotels and lodges. Bomb detection and disposal squads, dog squads and strike teams had been pressed into service, officials said.

Anti-sabotage teams have been carrying out checks in vehicles at the entry points to the city over the past couple of days. Security in and around the venue the Republic Day celebrations, has been stepped up.
