A Huge controversy is brewing around Nandi Awards in AP. The contention is that Akkinenis were ignored, and no one from the Megastar compound was honoured or recognised.
A few of them in the Tollywood termed it as Kamma caste appeasement and that the awards were selected under the guidance of Balakrishna the MLA and relative of AP CM Chandrababu Naidu.
People want the legend Akkineni Nageshwara Rao to be recognised for his movie Manam where he acted from his deathbed.
An award category under Akkinenis name was also removed. There are allegations the fight between Nagarjuna and Balakrishna was the result of the injustice being meted to Akkienenis.
Allu Aravind from the Mega compound was on the jury, but he could not influence or do anything for his family members.
The Telugu industry is almost on the verge of splitting in the name of caste creed community and awards.
