Tomato and mirchi are the regular vegetables of the common man. Tomato is costing around Rs 1OO per Kg and Chillies are costing Rs two hundred per KG.
So a worker cannot go even for making Tomato Chutney. The tomato was thrown on the roads due to lack of cold storage. Now it is sold for more than a hundred a Kilogram.
Mutton is costing Rs1OOO per KG . Chicken is Rs 3OO. Rains have set in in India and with lower temperatures, prices of vegetables are soaring high.
In many parts of the country, vegetable prices have shot up due to an increase in transportation cost, resulting from the fuel price hikes, leaving customers as well as sellers struggling.
The LPG cylinder is also going up and fluctuating.
Karela is costing more than a hundred per KG. The mango fruits are costing under a hundred per KG while the vegetables are on the higher side.
The latest of the lot is lemon, whose prices have risen to Rs 200 per kg in local markets across the country. Another steepest hike observed among vegetables is chilies.
Most of the vegetables are touching the 1OO rupees mark and it is difficult for the common man to meet both ends. Vegetable sellers say they are facing shrinking profits and reduced sales as due to the increased transportation cost and the ultimate hike in the buying price, they are bound to sell vegetables at a higher price, which means either a low margin for them or limited sales.
But the Telangana Government has reduced the liquor rates slightly. The onion rates are affordable.
