Muru the Presidential Candidate form the NDA has been provided with the Z plus category security .
Droupadi Murmu, a tribal leader from Odisha, was on Tuesday named the ruling NDA’s candidate for the forthcoming Presidential election. The decision was taken at the BJP’s parliamentary board meeting.
Earlier in the day, the Opposition had announced former Union minister Yashwant Sinha as its joint candidate for the post.
The poll is slated for July 18.PM Modi later put out a social media post saying, “Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji has devoted her life to serving society and empowering the poor, the downtrodden as well as the marginalised.
She has rich administrative experience and had an outstanding gubernatorial tenure. I am confident she will be a great President of our nation.”
Murmu said: “I got the news of getting elected as the Presidential candidate from media. I don’t want to comment on it right now. Thank you very much.”
