With the restoration works of the iconic Mozamjahi market in the city in full swing, Principal Secretary Municipal Administration Arvind Kumar today visited the place and took stock of the progress achieved.

GHMC Zonal Commissioner Musharaff and other officials were also present. Mr Kumar asked the officials to take uplighting of the minarets at the earliest.

He cautioned that lighting should be taken up in such a way without impacting the basic structure. Lighting should be uniform and should have a heritage look, he added. All shops should be numbered and have uniform signages, he said. He said that the entire flooring of the area should be taken up with a different kind of stone.

Stone encryption outside the market stating the structure’s history and purpose should be put up, he said. He asked the officials to plan in such a way so as to include a lot of eateries and heritage furniture in the open for eating and make it family friendly.

When the issue of frequent repairs to the clock on the clock tower was brought to his notice, he directed the concerned official to replace the clock if necessary or to get the existing clock repaired immediately.

He expressed satisfaction at the pace of works. He enquired with the shopkeepers about their business. They informed that business has picked up after the restoration works have been taken up.
