The mortal remains of Atal Behari Vajpayee were consigned to flames at the Yamuna Ghat in the designated Smruthi Sthal while PM Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah wept like children. All the cabinet Ministers and others were present here while the armed forces carried his body in the end.
A sea of humanity walked along with the gun carriage where the body was kept and taken all along led by Modi -Shah Jodi. Ignoring the protocol Modi the Prime Minister walked all the way in the last journey of Vajpayee. Amidst chanting of veda mantras by purohits and a salute from the armed forces the last rites were performed for Modi.
Modi the PM was seen sweating profusely by the side of Shah and he had tears now and then was unable to control himself. The security was almost thrown to winds and the people were seen in the close range of Modi and Amit Shah.
Venkaiah Naidu the VP was missing from the scene and came in the end and sat between Advani and Manmohan Singh. Yogi the UP CM sat behind him.
The mortal remains of Vajpayee were placed on the pedestal and the armed forces placed wreaths and took the final salute from the former Prime Minister who did the Pokhran test with Abdul Kalam.
Modi after placing the wreath went round and greeted all the dignitaries who have come to pay respects to Vajpayee. President Ramnath Kovind came in the end and paid his respects. The bugle was sounded and the President saluted the mortal remains of Vajpayee when all the signatories stood in silence for a while. The Kovind walked and sat with the PM Modi.
After walking for such a distance, the PM was offered a water bottle but he refused and Amit Shah took it. The Bhutan King also paid his last respects.
Karzai from Afghanistan, Amitshah, Advani, Manmohan Singh, Raksha Mantri Nirmala, and his friends from across the world paid their respects. All religion prayers were also done before the funeral pyre was lit. Then the mortal remains of Vajpayee were consigned to flames in the presence of his daughter Namitha.
