On a day when Prime Minister Narendta Modi launched his harshest attack on the Siddaramiah-led Congress government in Karnataka, one of the closest aides of Congress president Rahul Gandhi resorted to cheap humour to insult the prime minister.
Congress worker Divya Spandana’s tweet in response to Prime Minister Modi’s speech at Bengaluru today created furore, with the BJP slamming the Congress for stooping to a ‘new low’.
While addressing the mega rally at Palace Grounds in Bengaluru in poll-bound Karnataka, the Prime Minister has asserted that farmers were the ‘TOP’ priority of the NDA government, spelling out the acronym as ‘T for Tomato, O for Onion and P for Potato’. However, Spandana, who also goes by her screen name Ramya, posted a crude jibe in response to PM Modi’s statement.
Spandana, who is the Head of Social Media and Digital Communications of the Congress, tweeted, “Is this what happens when you’re on POT?”
Hitting out at the Congress for targeting the Prime Minister with yet another personal insult, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that Spandana’s tweet exposed the mindset of the Congress party.
