MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha echoes on Twitter as she requests Union Minister Smriti Irani to honour social reformer Savitri Bai Phule.
On the occasion of 190th birth anniversary of social reformer Savitri Bai Phule, MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha took to Twitter with a request to Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smt. Smriti Irani.
The tweet said, “@smritiirani ji .. On the 190th birth anniversary of social reformer SavithriBai Phule, I sincerely request her name to be added to the list of eminent women chairs to be established.”
In January 2020, The Women and Child Development Ministry headed by Smt. Smriti Irani announced chairs to be set up in varsities in the name of 10 eminent women personalities.
The list however missed out on one of the first reformers and indeed the first women reformer Smt. Savitri Bai Phule that India had. As January 3 this year marked for 190th birth anniversary of Savitri Bai, Kavitha called for honouring the eminence of Savitri Bai.
Several TRS leaders appreciated Kavitha for taking up this step to honour Savitri Bai Phule.
