TRS MLC Kalvakuntala Kavita attacked the central government for reneging on the promise of buying paddy from the farmers of Telangana and said that the government should not create a situation of confrontation again with the farmers by refusing to purchase paddy. The central government is not procuring paddy from the farmers of Telangana, whereas, earlier the central government had promised that every grain of paddy would be fully procured. The BJP government at the Center has now refused the purchase, flouting the promise. In protest, about 61 lakh farmers of the state have taken to the streets.

Former Member of Parliament Kavita warned the central government that if the Center did not pay attention to the feelings of the farmers of the state, they would be forced to agitate on the streets of Delhi. The whole country knows that if the farmers once again sit on the streets of Delhi, then the central government will have to bow down and eventually listen to the farmers. The central government should not once again create a situation of confrontation with the farmers. He demanded that the way central government buys the entire paddy from Punjab, in the same way, as the entire paddy from the farmers of Telangana too.

MLC and daughter of Telangana Chief Minister, K. Kavita told that Telangana was a dry state and after a long struggle, a separate Telangana state was formed. The farmers of the state were disappointed at first but after many schemes brought by the TRS government in the interest of the farmers, he got encouragement and started farming again. TRS government provided irrigation facilities in the state. Irrigation water and electricity have been given free of cost to the farmers for 24 hours. Not only this, the farmers of the state are given 10 thousand rupees per acre annually per farmer.

Praising the vision of Telangana CM KCR and his efforts towards encouraging and safeguarding the interests of the farmers of Telangana. MLC Kavitha said that it is the result of the schemes being run by the TRS government of the state in the interest of the farmers that the production of paddy has doubled here. But the anti-Telangana policies of the central government may hinder the development of Telangana. She further said that the central government is repeatedly treating Telangana with step-motherly behavior. Former Member of Parliament said that FCI was formed to maintain food security and to maintain food security, food grains should be procured equally from every state.

She further added that the responsibility of storing food grains rests with the central government, but it is unfortunate that the central government is shunning its responsibility and wants to put the entire burden on the state governments. The farmer does not belong to anyone state but to the whole country. The government should not discriminate between state and state.

Kavita pointed out that Telangana produces a large percentage of boiled rice due to unfavorable climatic conditions during the Yasangi season. The central government is constantly talking about buying only raw rice by making various excuses without taking into consideration the impact that their actions will have on our farmers.

Further, she said that the reality is that BJP Govt. does not want to buy the produce of the farmers of the state. She also said that on one hand, the BJP government was claiming double the income of farmers by 2022, while three months have passed since 2022, the BJP government should tell when the farmer’s income will be doubled. Far from doubling farmers’ income due to rising inflation every day, debt and expenditure have doubled.
