The Karnataka Assembly speaker was furious that only 6 ministers were present in the house when there was business on thanks giving to the Governors address in the Assembly. He found fault with the other ministers and named them in the Assembly saying that they must come to the house and talk on the thanksgiving motion to the Governor. This is not correct that the Ministers don’t come to the house he said.

What is that they have got to do- is it more important than the Assembly business the Speaker questioned. He gave an ultimatum and said that they must come to the Assembly premises within 15 minutes wherever they are. Taking the speakers orders into serious account the Ministers who were absent just rushed to the house and participated in the discussion.

The speaker was KR Suresh Kumar . He made a right precedent by calling the Ministers to the house as they had to talk about the Governor’s address to the members in the house. Whatever he pointed out was right and he had the rights to summon the Ministers being the head of the house.

Let’s hope all other speakers in the other states will follow the same and maintain the discipline.
