Massive reforms needed in Agriculture

Narsinga Rao the principal secretary to the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today said that focus on Agriculture is the need of the hour and that exports should be encouraged in a big way.

He was addressing a gathering at the Agriculture university here at Rajendranagar on the topic doubling of farmers income ., an approach through food processing and value addition.

Despite being in busy Schedule Narsinga Rao made it to the lecture and said that the MSP has no relevance in these days where there is excess produce in the farms.

But the rural distress continues he opined. MSP is mostly relevant in terms and rice and wheat he stated. He also opined that when you are in surplus there was no need for Government intervention also.

The private parties have a very minimal role in the agriculture sector he explained. The demand will create its own supply he stated. It will find its own ways and means he opined.

If the farm sector grows by five percent then the Indian economy will stabilise he stated. Massive reforms in the agriculture sector are needed to develop the sector and also the Indian economy he said.

Saying that production was not a problem, the better way of marketing and exports should be adopted he stated. On the other hand, the statistics show that we losing around Rs 92000 crore in terms of food loss due to lack of processing and storing facilities in the country.

This has to be addressed.
