Telangana Association of United Kingdom (TAUK) grandly celebrated “Chenetha Bathukamma and Dasara” in London. NRIs and Indian Community organisation representatives from across UK attended this event.
Birtish MPs Virendra Sharma and Seem Malhotra along with Houslow Mayor Bishnu Gurung attended as special guests to this event.
TAUK Vice – President Shusmuna Reddy said, As a responsible Citizens and with the great inspiration from Telangana government and especially IT Minister KTR, we named and dedicated this event as “ Chenetha Bathukamma & Dasara” to get a wider support and attention to wear handlooms in every occasion.
Another Vice- President Sathya chilumula said, organised Shami Pooja as per tradition and also conducted Dasara “Alai-Bhalai”, where we all exchanged shami leaves and pledged to support Weavers.
Founder Anil Kurmachalam said, This year we are not only supporting Weavers but importantly we aim to thank National Health Services in UK (NHS), Key workers and Covid-19 Warriors across Globe who sacrificed their life in saving the lives of many people across the world. Especially without their commitment, dedication and humanity today we could not have see this normalcy in the community to meet each and celebrate the events in grand manner, so this event is dedicated to them and we are thanking them with fitting tribute by etching London Tower bridge artwork saying “THANK YOU NHS & KEY WORKERS”.
He also thanked the community in UK for attending and encouraging TAUK efforts, also thanked the special guests and all those supported to make the event grand success.

It also show the TAUK organisations concern and respect to every social aspect in the society. Since many years TAUK has not only limited their activities to celebrations but as responsible members of the society they involved in helping others, specially their service during Covid-19 in UK and back home is truly appreciated.
Women performed #Bathukamma with great energy, women singing Bathukamma songs and playing traditionally reflecting as if it was happening at back home Telanagna. Specially prepared London tower bridge was the special attraction of the event and many were found taking selfies and pictures, also appreciated the organisers for giving fitting tribute to NHS, key workers and Covid-19 warriors.
NRI TRS UK President & TAUK Convenor said, Our organisation is always in support of the Government especially for any initiative taken to support the poor and needy, like supporting weavers. As a responsible NRIs we have made this event as “Chenetha Bathukamma & Dasara” encouraging everyone to wear and support handloom weavers in every occasion, either it is social or personal.
