The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has announced Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy as its candidate for the Munugode bye-election.
While there are speculations that TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) has announced the candidature of Kusukuntala.
The TRS’s decision to field a Reddy candidate comes despite the fact that Munugode has less of a Reddy population.
Earlier, it was reported that the party had considered giving the ticket to former MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, who is from the BC community.
The TRS source told that the party decided to go ahead with the Reddy candidate because giving the ticket to a BC candidate would leave many disgruntled as there are several subcastes within the BC community and many of the subcastes were hoping and lobbying to get their hands on the Munugode ticket.
Both the TRS and BJP are doing the campaign here in Munugode ever since Rajgopal Reddy resigned to the Congress party.
It will be an acid test for both the BJP and also the TRS party now. Vivek Venkatswamy is the Incharge of the BJP, while Jagadish Reddy is responsible for the TRS party.
KCR is personally monitoring the by-election here.
