No we are not talking about the beauty of ladies, but we are discussing the beauty and look of the buildings being constructed in Hyderabad.

Minister for municipal administration and urban development K.T. Rama Rao has a keen sense of aesthetics — contributing directly or indirectly to the pleasant ambience that has become a hallmark of the pockets of upscale new Hyderabad.

KTR recently released the agenda for cool buildings where the top and walls are built with cool materials and cement quoting.

So it should not have come as a surprise to builders in the city when they received a dressing down over their lack of “aesthetic sense”. Rama Rao, at two meetings attended by builders in Hyderabad recently expressed disappointment over the builders focusing only on high-rise structures but not on aesthetics.

KTR suggested that the buildings must be good for the utility and also look. They must attract the attention of the people he opined. Spend some of your money on aesthetics, was his message to the builders. Everyone has a bit to play in making our city look beautiful, was KTR’s message.

The buildings, his contention was, look like boxes and have no element of a visual treat. He suggested the builders to visit Mangaluru in Karnataka and learn a thing or two about blending buildings with good design.

There are tall buildings coming up in Hyderabad, but it looks like a concrete jungle. The minister suggested that the buildings must look beautiful and they must have greenery apart from water bodies and also fountains.
