Telangana IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao has sent an open letter to the Central government, condemning rising petrol costs and accusing the Centre of acting as a “middleman” by buying crude oil cheaply on the international market and selling it at exorbitant prices to the people of the country.
KTR further slammed the Centre for “blaming state governments” for rising petrol prices.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government is operating as a middleman, buying crude oil cheaply and selling petrol and diesel to the public at higher costs, while shamelessly blaming state governments for the rising prices.
The Union government has come up with the ridiculous argument that state governments should lower taxes while increasing petrol prices dramatically ” KTR wrote.
The Minister claimed that the explanations given by the Centre for the increase in fuel prices are “absolute lies,” and that Union Ministers are “deliberately hiding” the fact that the price of gasoline is cheaper in other countries.
Ministers in the European Union who claim that prices are growing in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and even France are concealing the fact that their gas costs are lower than ours “KTR wrote
KTR also slammed the Centre for delaying hiking petrol prices till after the five states’ Assembly elections, claiming that the government has “made it a habit” to raise LPG rates.
