Telangana under the dynamic leadership of K Taraka Rama Rao the Minister for IT has signed 2 prestigious MoU’s signed at Aero India 2017 event in Bangalore.
The delegation from Telangana state led by minister of industries and IT Mr KT Rama Rao had a series of very productive meetings in the Aero India event organised by the Ministry of defence in Bangalore.
The minister addressed an investors meeting which was also attended by union minister of Defence Mr Manohar Parrikar. The Minister explained about the manufacturing opportunities available in Hyderabad and Telangana including the availability of good quality infrastructure, a pool of skilled manpower and one of the best package of incentives in the country.
Already in the last 2 1/2 years, some of the major aerospace companies have chosen Hyderabad over other competing cities to locate their manufacturing facilities. All of them without exception have had an extremely satisfactory stint in Hyderabad. For example Lockheed Martin was able to set up its plant in flat 9 months and commence production within 12 months. They have never had this kind of an experience anywhere in the world before.
During the day, the government of Telangana has also signed 2 significant MoUs pertaining to setting up skill development facilities in Hyderabad. The first of them involves three partners besides the government, namely Airbus, National skill development Council, and Aero School Aquitaine of France. This consortium will create a skill development Centre in the old airport of Begumpet, and will design engineering courses relevant for the industry.
Another MoU was signed with one of the leading aeronautical engineering universities in the world, Cranfield University of UK. The minister has requested industry also to support the Cranfield University partnership and has received positive response from Boeing and the TASL.
During the day bilateral meetings were conducted with Saab, Pratt & Whitney, Boeing defence, TASL, Dassault Aviation, and Midhani. Most of these companies are exploring possibilities of setting up new units in India. The aerospace sector investment policies in the state of Telangana were explained to them by the minister. It is likely that teams from each of these companies will be visiting Hyderabad in the near future to assess the specific opportunities of bringing new business to Telangana.
During the course of the day, the delegation met union minister of Defence Mr Manohar Parrikar, union Minister of skill development Mr Rajiv Pratap Rudy and the chairman of Tata Sons Mr Ratan Tata. In a public meeting in the presence of nearly 50 investors, Mr Parrikar acknowledged the minister as one of the most progressive ministers in the state who means business and delivers what he promises.
Mr Rudy too acknowledged the seriousness with which skill development has been taken up in Telangana. Mr Ratan Tata mentioned that the day he spent in Hyderabad inaugurating the T-hub has been one of the most memorable days for him. He also expressed that the experience of TASL in Hyderabad has been very encouraging for the Tata group.
