Industries minister Mr K T Rama Rao who is in Delhi in connection with the World Economic Forum meet met Mr Baba Kalyani of Bharath Forge and requested him to explore the possibility of investing in aerospace and defence sectors in Telangana. He also briefed him about the government’s desire to set up an aero technology university in the state. Mr Kalyani agreed to cooperate with the state government towards approaching world class aero tech and defence universities. He appreciated the programmes and policies of the state government and agreed to visit Hyderabad to meet the Chief Minister Mr K Chandra Sekhar Rao.
KTR also met the Chairman and Managing Director of JK Tyres Mr Raghupathi Singhania and explained to him about the opportunities in setting up paper mills in the state. The Minister briefed about the government’s desire to revive the Sirpur Paper Mills and requested him to invest in the plant. Mr Singhania expressed his desire to have a separate meeting with the Chief Minister for investments in Telangana.
KTR discussed HP companies expansion plans in Hyderabad and smart city solutions with the HP India Managing Director Neelam Dhawan. Ms Neelam Dhawan agreed to the Minister’s proposal to develop one town in Telangana as a smart city on a pilot basis and come soon with a detailed proposal in this regard. HP also agreed to cooperate with the state government to provide efficient services to the public in the fields of water and power supply through effective use of science and technology. The Minister spoke about the establishment of a dry port in the state and opportunities in the logistics sector with DHL Managing Director Mr Vikas Anand.
He spoke with the MD of Ashok Leyland Mr Vinod Dasari about the automobile sector and said that with the setting up of Mahindra plant in the state, the state is attracting investments in this sector. He requested the MD to set up a unit of Ashok Leyland in the state. Mr Vinod assured to send a team to the state. Mr Rama Rao also requested the delegation from British Telecom and ZTE and requested to set up in telecom equipment plant in the state. He also met Accenture group chairperson Rekha Malhotra Menon and requested to expand their unit in the state. Later he met the MD of Seimens India Mr Sunil Mathur.
In his meeting with Mr Philip Rosler of the World Economic Forum , the Minister briefed about the policies of the state government. Mr Rosler agreed to visit the state and assured to make Telangana as a partner state in the World Economic Forum summit at Davos. He lauded the initiatives of the state government and said that the initiatives have brought a positive atmosphere for investments in the state.
The minister also met the top leadership of CII including its president Mr Naushad Forbes and Director General Chandrajit Banerjee. They briefed the minister about the role being played by the CII and said they have tie ups with around 3200 companies throughout the world. The minister sought their cooperation in attracting investments to the state and said that the government was willing to imbibe good practices and policies of other countries and states towards attracting investments.
