King Charles’s coronation ceremony is set to take place today as he and his wife Queen Consrt Camilla will be crowned at Westminster Abbey in London.
Ahead of the event, King Charles along with his elder son Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, greeted well-wishers near Buckingham palace. The “slimmed-down” ceremony will be attended by 2,000 guests, including world leaders, members of the royal family and celebrities.
As Britain makes final preparations for the ceremony, the world’s attention turns to the royal family that has undergone many changes in the recent past- Prince Harryand Meghan Markle stepping down as senior royals and the passing away of the country’s longest-reigning monarch Queen Eligibeth II.
Charles, who was christened Charles Philip Arthur George, held private talks with “trusted friends” about the possibility of using his third middle name and reigning as George VII.
Former Buckingham Palace press spokesman Dickie Arbiter said by using the name George, Charles would be paying tribute to the both his grandparents.
harles was nine when he was given the title the Prince of Wales. He’s now 74, and ascended the throne immediately following his mothers death.
