The Khairatabad Ganesh will be made this time with 10 heads it has been decided by the Utsav committee. But the height has not been decided as yet.
Taking the Corona into consideration it may not be of big height the local leaders said. However, the police and the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi will take a call on the height of the said Ganesha.
Khairatbad is very popular across the world for installing the biggest idol in the state. But it has not been happening since last year as there was Corona.
The Ganesh Chavihti is in September. But the preparations are already in place in Khairatabad. The Laddoo prasadam was also not distributed here at Khairtabad due to Corona.
However, the people visited Ganesha with Covid rules in place. For the first time in the last 66 years, the famous Ganesh idol in Hyderabad’s Khairatabad, was not taller than the previous year’s statue, going against the tradition which has been followed for a long time.
It has been part of the customs to raise the height of the Ganesh idol by one foot every year, with last year’s idol marking a record height of 66 feet. Last year’s idol, however, was 27-feet in height.
It has also been the norm to use plaster of Paris for the statue. However, last year’s idol was made of clay. These are not the only changes in tradition this year.
No devotees from other areas would be allowed to attend the 10-day festival. However, they can book for a ‘puja’ online and have a ‘darshan’ from their houses.
The move is expected to help with social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic since lakhs of people usually gather to witness the immersion of the Ganesh idol on the 11th day.
it has to be seen if the police would allow the Shoba Yatra of Ganesha for the Nimajjan in Tankbund waters.
