Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao has instructed the concerned officials that “ Kanti Velugu programme” aimed at conducting eye tests for all the people in the State should be launched on August 15, 2018 at 2 PM all over the State. “The State Government for the first time has decided to conduct free eye tests to all the 3.70 Crore people in the State. Such a massive level programme was not conducted so far. Since the programme is conducted statewide every necessary arrangement shall be made.
There would be 799 teams and, in each team, there would be a MBBS doctor, Optometrist, ANM and others. Every team will conduct Eye test on an average for 250 persons per day. The officers told the CM that the necessary eye drops, medicines, 34 lakhs spectacles are kept ready and will be dispatched to districts. They said that 114 eye hospitals both private and public are identified for conducting operations.
CM suggestions.
•For conducting Eye Tests uninterruptedly even on a rainy day a pucca building like a village school shall be identified.
•The routine medical facilities shall not be hampered on the name of the Eye Tests and due to deputations of the staff. To work in the teams and eye camps the services of unemployed MBBS Doctors to be made use of on a temporary basis. Those who are working in different hospitals are not to be disturbed.
•Large-scale campaigning should be done to make people aware of Eye Camps and about the schedule in a particular village. Services of ANMs and Asha workers are to be utilised. Cooperation and help from the local elected representatives shall be obtained.
•Letters from the Health Minister to be addressed to all the elected representative requesting them to participate in the conduct of Eye Camps.
•Two weekend holidays shall be given to the team members participating in the eye camps. For their transport at Government expense vehicles are to be arranged.
•Medicines and reading glasses are to be provided immediately for those who require them. For others Doctors advise shall be obtained before distribution of spectacles. At government cost operations are to be done to all those who require either in government or private hospitals.
