The TDP has won all the three MLC seats giving a shock to the opposition YSRC here in Cudapah. Anam Vivekananda Reddy the brother of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy could not win and Btech Ravi of the TDP has won the seat. It is reported that about Rs 250 crores changed hands in the process for the 3 MLC seats.
Both the parties took it as a prestigious question. Especially Cudapah was taken very seriously by the ruling party TDP and Babu wanted this seat by hook or crook.
Earlier the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won six seats in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council from the Local Authorities Constituencies unanimously on Friday.
The TDP bagged seats from Chittoor, East and West Godavari, Anantapur, and Srikakulam districts unanimously.
A few independent candidates who filed their papers in Srikakulam, West Godavari and Anantapur districts withdrew their candidature on the last day , paving the way for the unanimous election of the TDP nominees.
The YSRC leaders charged that the TDP has won the seats by corrupt practices and even threatened the YSRC supporters in the process. On the other hand there was heavy betting on the outcome of Cudapah election. More than 150 crore was invested in the political betting by the punters and finally the TDP punters have won it on BTech Ravi. More betting was done for YS Vivekananda Reddy of YSRC as he was from the same district and had grip on the local leadership to some extent.
But the TDP has turned the tables in Viveka in the end. It is going to be further difficult for the YSRC in the near future. If Jagan loses Cudapah his home town then it would be very difficult for him in the other parts of the state.
