The Chief Minister will formally launch Janahita programme aimed at interacting with a cross section of people on Feb 17, which is incidentally birthday of the Chief Minister. The first meeting of Janahita is going to be with the family members of the journalists who are deceased. Sri Allam Narayana and other journalists have thanked the CM for taking measures for the welfare of the journalists, which no other state is taking up.Honourable Chief Minister Sri K Chandrashekhar Rao announced that the government would allocate Rs 10 Crore every year for the journalists’ welfare. Besides helping the journalists who died, help will also be given to the journalists who fall ill or sick.
The Chief Minister said on Feb 17, he would personally meet the family members of the journalists’ who are deceased at Pragathi Bhavan and will directly hand over the help. The Chief Minister held a review meeting on the journalists’ welfare here on Tuesday at Pragathi Bhavan. Minister Sri K T Rama Rao, Chief Advisor Sri Rajiv Sharma, Advisor Sri K V Ramanachary, Principal Secretary Sri S Narsing Rao, Press Academy Chairman Sri Allam Narayana, Ranga Reddy District Collector Sri Raghunandan Rao, Senior Journalists Sri Kranti, Sri Palle Ravi, Sri Budha Murali and Satish participated.
“We are taking measures for the welfare of the journalists for the first time in the country. In the last two State Budgets we have allocated Rs 10 Crore each, which is about Rs 20 Crore. We will also allocate Rs 10 Crore in the present Budget. With this money we will take up welfare programme for journalists through the Press Academy. We will give Rs one lakh each to those journalists who have died and their family members will get a pension of Rs 3000 per month for five years. If they have children studying below 10th standard we will give Rs 1000 to two children of the family per month. If the journalists’ children are studying abroad Overseas Scholarship will be given to them. We will also give assistance to journalists pursuing courses abroad. The Chief Minister has entrusted the job of identifying house sites for journalists in Hyderabad to Minister Sri KT Rama Rao.
