Sankranthi the festival of kites and sweets has already begun in Telugu states. People from urban areas have started going to rural areas to touch the grassroots. All roads now lead to villages. Since it is a second Saturday people have already left to the villages even before the festival in advance.
Railway stations, Bus depots are full with travellers. All kinds of transport are full since yesterday. While it is Kite festival here, cockfights and bullfights are popular in Andhra Pradesh.
Huge betting goes in Andhra for the cockfights and the bull races. We can say that the festival is already happening in the Telugu states. The festival is celebrated for three days in the form of Bhogi, Sankranthi and Kanuma.
Bhogi is the puja day, Sankranthi is the actual festival day followed by Kanuma. Kanuma is the day where Non-vegetarian is cooked.
Til laddu with jaggery is prepared for this festival. Here in Hyderabad people fly kites with Maaja and shout over the rooftops with mikes and enjoy the day. Most of the traffic has come down on the main roads as forty per cent of the public has gone to the villages.
From Sunday to Wednesday it is celebration time in the Telugu states. NRIs and people from abroad also come to Telugu states for this festival.
