ISRO chief Sivan is hopeful that they would connect to the Vikram lander soon. The scientists have come to a conclusion that it was a hard landing on the moon and that the lander is intact and the only thing is that it cant be connected on the moon surface. When it comes to the technicalities of the experiment they have landed on the South pole of the moon, but it was not a soft landing as planned.
The orbiter is able to take photos and it has taken the photo of the lander and it was sent to the earth station by which it was identified that the Vikram lander met a crash landing. The lander has not crashed and its in one piece condition. It has to be brought into a position where it can be contacted and managed from the earth station.
A beaming Sivan the ISRO chief gave hope that the lander would be contacted and operated upon. The Orbiter was designed for a year, but it will work for another 7 years. We can take the data from the Orbiter for the next 7 years. According to the scientists 95 per cent of the mission has been accomplished and the other 5 per cent was about the landing.
The contact with the lander can be established only if everything with the lander was alright remarked some scientists. But Sivan says they would try it for another 14 days.
The opinion is divided on the contact aspect with the lander. But Sivan also told the PM Modi that he would give it a try once again.
