Nawab is the latest movie from ace director Mani Ratnam. It is being released in Tamil and Telugu. Insiders say that the tussle for power between the brothers to inherit power is the theme of this movie. Some make a wild guess that it could be the power tussle between the sons of Karunanidhi who expired recently.
Some others say it is the same old Godfather rehashed again adding it with a different culture.
Earlier Mani Ratnam made Nayakan with KamalHassan and it was straight a rehash of the Godfather. Mani Ratnam and RGV are good rehash directors in a different manner. While the Tamil publicity for Nawab is going on with all enthusiasm, the Telugu is yet to begin and take the required momentum. Mani is yet to have a big hit these days.
He is in a slump as his earlier movies distributed by Dil Raju have bombed at the box office. Dil failed in assessing the movies and just believed in Mani. This time the distributors in Telugu will be careful with Nawab and they may not take the risk.
It is reported that his wife Suhasini is helping him in fine-tuning the movies as has worked as an assistant director and knows some crafts of movie making. These days Suhasini is also into social work.
Let’s hope this Nawaab works for Mani Ratnam at the box office.
