International womens day was celebrated at TRS office by MP Kavitha in a grand manner with Deputy Speaker Padma Devendar Reddy and others. A huge cake was cut on this occasion. The women played musical chairs and enjoyed or some time. Kavitha gave a call that women must come forward in every sector and they can win achieve anything with confidence.
Stressing on the importance of encouraging sports persons, MP Kavitha said both the State and Central government should encourage and empower the players.
Pointing out at the lack of proper sports policy, Kavitha said they have a proper policy for players in Telangana.
“In general, sportspersons, traditionally in India, have not been encouraged much. But, I believe they should be encouraged not only by state governments, but, also by the Central government. We should have a proper sports policy like we do in Telangana. We encourage and empower any sportsperson, men or women,” she told.
Refraining from commenting on the recent Sakshi Malik row, Kavitha said all the players should be motivated by both – the State and the Centre.
“I don’t want to blame a particular government or talk about a particular player, but, in general, I believe the youth should be encouraged in sports with a hardcore policy,” she said.
Earlier on March 4, Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik lashed out at Union Sports Minister Vijay Goel, Haryana’s Sports Mnister Anil Vij and Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for not delivering on their promises made after her incredible feat in the Rio Olympics.
The BJP-led Haryana Government had announced a financial award of Rs. 2.5 crore as well as a government job for Sakshi after her Rio feat.
The state government had also declared that she would be appointed the Wrestling Director at Maharshi Dayanand University in her native Rohtak.
“Medal ka vada maine pura kiya, Haryana sarkar apna vada kab pura karegi? (I fulfilled my promise of winning an Olympic medal for the country, when will Haryana Government fulfil its promise?),” tweeted Sakshi.
