With only two days to go for the third Test to begin at Ranchi, the discussions have already begun how the wicket is going to behave as Ranhci is hosting the Test for the time. The wicket according to the reports we have read so far is likely to assist the spinners.
While India is expected to bring back Murali Vijay, who missed in Bengalore match owing to shoulder injury, Australia will have to make two changes with both Mitchell Marsh and Mithcell Starc being left out. Marsh who underwent a surgery in Australia yesterday seems to be even doubtful for the coming IPL season. But missing the injured Starc in this very important match will be a big blow for the Aussies as he batted and bowled well in both the Tests. Pat Cummins is going to be the certain replacement for Starc and one has to wait and see whether Smith will show interest in Maxwell or Stoinis for Marsh’s replacement.
Lyon, who has had to bowl quite few overs on this tour so far is also having a sore finger, but he will be playing along side O’Kofee. Both have lived upto the expectations, picking wickets. If Maxwell included they can get a bit of rest in between as he is capable of bowling of long spells. And if the wicket turns, he can be pretty supportive to get some important breakthroughs as well.
Australians have problems at the top of the order with no one playing a big innings except their captain. Warner, Shaun Marsh and Renshaw have looked good, but none of them has played a big innings, which certainly worries the team management. Aussies must be hoping someone to really play big in this match.
On the other hand, KL Rahul and Cheshwara Pujara have contributed superbly for India and with Vijay’s comeback the hosts batting will be strenghthened further. India also expect its captain Kohli to strike his real form, which he showed prior to this series against all the visiting teams. In bowling I don’t think the home team will be making any changes.
Certainly an interesting match is on cards, with both the teams having fought tooth and nail so far.
