On May 1, as the country is supposed to open up its vaccination drive to everyone above the age of 18 years, there are no stocks of Vaccine in the states. There are lakhs of people waiting for the second dose.

The Governments are in no position to give either the first dose or the second dose of Vaccine to the people in the country.

Many Governments have announced that will be giving vaccine free of cost. But they are not in a position to start the third phase of Vaccination at this point in time.

This could lead to another crisis as another 40 million will already be waiting in the queue for the second dose. People are coming to the centre and going back as there are no stocks.

And that number will rise with every passing day, as the 65 million people above the age of 45 — who got the first dose after April 1 — complete their stipulated time of four to eight weeks and join the queue for the second dose.

The Telangana Government has decided that it will not give any stocks to private hospitals.

The Telangana and Delhi Governments have clarified that they will not be in a position to give the vaccine to the people for the coming two days.

Fresh stocks of vaccine are yet to reach the states. There is no coordination between the demand and supply of vaccine stocks.

AP CM Jagan said that only from September they can provide the vaccine to all. No state has proper medical staff for the Vaccination to all.

We need around 250 crore does of Vaccine and this will take another one year. Around 15 crore were vaccinated so far and only 2.5 crore have taken the two doses so far.
