The White House has acknowledged that it will host an Iftar dinner in celebration of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan this seasons .
Earlier it has declined to host one last year in a break with a tradition that spanned the three prior administrations. It looks like the President in falling in line with the traditions.
“I can confirm the President will host a dinner,” White House spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said of the Iftar, first reported over the weekend by Politico.
On the other hand, the President has decided to Pardon himself and says that he has got the right to do so.
I have the absolute right to Pardon myself asserted the President of America Donald Trump.
He was talking in the context of collision with Russain forces during the presidential elections and the probe pertaining to the Russain interference in the American elections.
“As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong?” he said on Twitter.
President Trump met with his lawyers and other legal luminaries over the issue and then he thought that he, in fact, has the right to pardon himself.
One of his lawyers also agreed that the President is empowered to do so, but it has a lot of political ramifications he opined.
In a letter to Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating the Russia meddling, the president’s lawyers argued in January that Trump “could, if he wished, terminate the inquiry, or even exercise his power to pardon if he so desired.”
