The ultimate goal of TTD is to provide hygienic, healthy and tasty food to the multitude of visiting pilgrims to Tirumala at affordable and reasonable prices and to reach this objective the Food Safety Department authorities will train the TTD Annaprasadam staff, hoteliers and other vendors on Food Safety measures soon, said TTD EO Sri J Syamala Rao.
An awareness meeting to the Big and Janata Canteens in Tirumala with the Food Safety Department authorities was held in the presence of TTD EO.
The Director of Food Safety Department Sri Purnachandra Rao has given a detailed PowerPoint Presentation on the Food Safety Management System that included the Hygienic and Sanitary practices to be followed in all the restaurants and eateries in Tirumala, Physical-Chemical-Biological Hazards of food spoilage, storing, wastage disposal plan, violation punishments in Food Safety Laws and Acts, training to the hoteliers and workers with Food Safety Training and Certification (FoSTaC) which is a large scale training programme that is very much required for the food business operators and many other related topics.
After the PPP, the EO said, all the Big and Janata Canteens operators will be given to revamp their hotel atmosphere as per the Food Safety Standards till August 5. “All the hotels should display the price list of the recipes without fail. After the given time, if any hotel is found violating the norms, serious action will be initiated”, he asserted.
The EO also said, the APTDC-run hotels should enhance the hygiene, quality and quantity of their recipes in such a way that they should be role model to other canteens and hotels in Tirumala.
He said, very soon even the small hotel operators and vendors will also be trained on food safety methods by the FSD authorities. “Our ultimate goal is to provide hygienic, healthy and tasty food to the multitude of visiting pilgrims to Tirumala at affordable and reasonable prices”, he maintained.
