Heavy rain lashed Hyderabad last night and many low lying areas. Hundreds of GHMC workers are working since last night to clear the rainwater on the roads.
Thousands of people are stranded in the flats and houses and they are not in a position to come out. The water clearance will itself take a long time it is reported.
The retaining wall of the nala at makhtain front Rajbhavan has collapsed and the nala water has entered about 20 houses here in the low lying areas.
The GHMC has advised the people of the city to postpone all the travel plans. Many areas in old city are also under rainwater and some old houses and walls collapsed here and there.
A portion of the retaining wall on the other side of the Tankbund has also collapsed and water is overflowing into the city . This is the second day where about 14 centimetres of rain has been recorded. 109 two-wheelers are under rain waters in a cellar in an apartment at Rajendranagar. Many of the areas in Attapur are in rainwater.
It is raining cats and dogs in the night since last two days. People are finding it very difficult to come out with their houses in the morning. Mayor Bonthu Rammohan is looking after the works in the city.
