Hyderabad drenched underwater

Many areas of pearl city, Hyderabad are underwater. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall in Hyderabad and the other districts of Telangana.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall was witnessed at isolated pockets of Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu and Bhadradri-Kothagudem districts.

Meanwhile, traffic movement is affected in Hyderabad due to the rains. The southwest monsoon has been active over the state, the Met office said. There is water logging in low-lying areas of Hyderabad and Cyberabad.

Khajaguda, Shamsahabad, Kukatpally and other areas have received very heavy rains and people had to wade through knee deep water. The drains and sewer nails are overflowing in the city.

A yellow alert indicating heavy rains has been issued in the districts including Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Siricilla, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban), Jangaon, and Yadari Buwanagiri.

A red alert was issued for some districts in Telangana. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation recorded the highest rainfall of 10.1 mm at Charminar in Hyderabad.
