HM Ali attends Bharosa meeting

The General Body meeting of Bharosa Society for Protection of Women and Children, Hyderabad has been held on Thursday in the Office of the Minister for Home, Mohammed Mahmood Ali who chaired the meeting as Ex-Officio Chairperson of Bharosa Society. The Meeting was attended by Mahender Reddy, DGP (Chairperson), Ravi Gupta, Prl. Secy., Home (Ex. Officio Vice Chairperson), Jitender, ADG., L&O, (Vice Chairperson), Swati Lakra, ADG, Women Safety Wing, TS (Member Secretary), Divya, Commissioner, Women Welfare and Child Development Dept., Sanjay Jain, Addl. DG., P&L (Joint Secretary),. AR Srinivas, Addl. CP, SIT, Hyd. (Invitee), Sumathi, DIG., Women Safety (Treasurer) and Dr. Ramesh Reddy, Director Medical Education (Invitee), Sireesha, Addl. DCP, Bharosa, Hyderabad City Police (Invitee), Dr. Mamatha Raghuveer, Technical Director, Bharosa (invitee). Sri Mohammed Mahmood Ali said that Bharosa Center is pride of Telangana State and supporting for redressal of victims of DVC and other violence and appreciated the Women Safety Wing for operating the Bharosa effectively and Bharosa Centers will be established in all the Districts. Mahender Reddy, DGP & Chairperson said that there is need for getting a post of Woman Gynecologist in Bharosa Centre. The Member Secretary, Bharosa Society and Addl. DG of Police, Women Safety Wing, TS, Swati Lakra briefed the Chair and Members of the General Body about the progress and overview of the activities of Bharosa Society in brief that Bharosa was established as a Autonomous Society by Govt. of Telangana for Protection of Women and Children which gives all kinds of support, redress and rehabilitation of Women and Children affected by Violence i.e., Physical, Sexual, Emotional, Psychological, Economic abuses and all DVC issues and works as one-place support center in helping victims in Police Action, Medical Processes, Legal Processes, Counselling etc. She stated that there are 12 Bharosa Centers which are in operation at present out of which, 6 are run in Police Owned Sites, 5 in Rental Buildings and one in Women & Child Welfare Dept. Building with total sanctioned strength of 96, Nine Medical Officers have been deputed to Bharosa Centers from Health Medical and FW Dept., a total 22,988 cases have been handled to till date since its inception of which 79% load is from Domestic Violence Cases, 17 Centres are under various stages of construction, 10 Entities are supporting construction of 14 Centers including 3 that are already in operation, Bharosa Centers at Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda are taken under Safe City Project, Standard Operating Procedures for functioning of Bharosa Centers has been finalized, Feed Back Collection Desk has been established through 3rd Party Agency. The Member Secretary briefed the Chair & the members of General Body that all the Bharosa staff were trained of Life Skills, Communicating with children and adolescents and in organizing awareness programmes. Divya, Special Secretary and Commissioner, Women Welfare & Child Development Dept. said that Compensation to the victims will be enhanced soon and Govt. will issue a GO in this regard and that Govt. will take a decition on convergence of Sakhi and Bharosa Centers soon.
