Heavy rains are predicted for the next 2 days

Hyderabad is drenched with rain for the last two days and heavy rains are expected in the coming two days. The GHMC has sounded a red alert as the ages of Himayatsagar has been lifted allowing the water to gush out.

The GHMC staff is busy clearing the drains across the city. The idea is for free flow of the water in the drains and that there will be no overflowing.

The roads are already full of water. Some dilapidated buildings have already been pulled down by the GHMC.

Most of the low lying areas are filled with water. Some people have been evacuated from the low lying areas. Traffic jams were seen last night in the city of Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad.

Hyderabad received 359.5 mm average rainfall during this monsoon season, whereas the normal rain expected till now was 210.9 mm. As per the officials, Hyderabad recorded at least 70.5 per cent excess rainfall compared to the rainfall estimated for the period.

As per data from IMD, so far in July, Hyderabad has recorded a rainfall of 285.2 mm, which is one of the highest in the last 10 years. Meanwhile, the officials at IMD have issued a four-day heavy rain warning in the State.
