Minister for IT and Municipal Administration K Taraka Rama Rao today said that apart from giving some livelihood to the weavers, a crore of women would be getting Bathukamma sarees free of cost.
He was distributing the Bathukamma sarees here at Nalgonda district along with the local leaders Gutta Sukendar Reddy, Jagadish Reddy and others. The Government has ordered for 10 types and designs of sarees and that too with the local handloom weavers.
Weavers making Bathukamma sarees are getting the thread and other inputs at 50 per cent subsidy he explained. The income of the local weavers in Sirisilla has increased due to Bathukamma sarees he said.
On the other hand, KCR is wanting to develop Nalogona in a big way he said. The medical college was allocated, a power plant is coming up and Yadadri has got developed on par with the Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam, KTR explained. Panugallu lake would be developed into a MiniTankbund with a cost outlay of around Rs 35 crore he said. The lakes and canals are flowing with water he stated.
The women came in large numbers for the meeting and they blessed KCR and KTR for the Sarees distribution.
