NIDP conducted the Plantation Drive in the campus to celebrate “Azadi ka Amruta Mahotsava” called by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As a part of the campaign, 75 trees with 20 different varieties having medicinal benefits were planted on the day.
The occasion was graced by the presence of TRS MP. Joginapally Santosh Kumar, Member Parliament, Rajya Sabha. The Director-General, NIRDPR in the presence of Hon’ble Member of Parliament made a small presentation on the different activities carried out by the Institute for strengthening Rural India and particularly Telangana.
On the occasion, the Hon’ble MP presented the book ‘Vriksha Vedam’ to the DG, NIRDPR, which features a collection of ‘Shlokas’ from Indian literature and highlights the importance of forests and trees.
The Honorable Member Parliament was elated to visit NIRDPR and congratulated the NIRDPR fraternity for the clean and green campus. The programme was conducted under the direct supervision of Lt Col Ashutosh Kumar, Registrar & Director(Administration).
Green India Challenge is creating records of sorts with plantations going in crores across the country. Santosh Kumar the MP said that it is an Inspiration from the CM KCRs Haritha Haram program.
On the whole Haritha Haram and GIC are providing a green cover to the state of Telangana. This helps in improving the climate conditions and also reducing the global warming apart from keeping teh Telangana state cool.
