Good news for farmers-MSP raised

Union Minister for Home Rajnath Singh announced that the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Paddy has been doubled. The Union Cabinet meeting was held to decide on the MSP today.

This will be implemented for the paddy and Kharif crops it is reported. This is going to cost the exchequer a whopping amount of around Rs 15000 crore.

This is an election year and the PM has thought it fit to take care of the rural distress and especially the farming community. This issue was repeatedly raised by K Chandrasekhar Rao the CM of Telangana.

The same was promised in the budget and Rajnath Singh has announced the same in his budget brief.

The MSP of Paddy has been increased by Rs 200 on common grade and Rs 160 on Grade A per quintal.

The MSP of cotton has been also raised. When it comes to pulses the Tuar dal has been raised to Rs 5675, Urad dal to Rs 5600.
