Gogoi is the new Chief Justice of India

Justice Ranjan Gogoi was sworn in as the 46th Chief Justice of India (CJI) by the President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.

Gogoi is the first CJI from the northeast and has taken over from Dipak Misra. Gogi has a tenure of 13months up to November 17, 2019.

The outgoing CJI Misra has recommended Gogoi it is reported. Gogoi is one of the four judges who in fact criticised about the functioning style of Misra. Gogoi found fault with Misra for not assigning the cases according to the priority.
